Market Watch is a free site that give daily business news, financial information, industry analysis, and equity market data. In addition to The Wall Street Journal and Barron’s, it is also a division of Dow Jones & Company, an investment firm of The New York Stock Exchange. The site was launched in 2001 and is geared towards the American public. In fact, since its inception, thousands of companies have sent out press releases and articles to Market Watch.
As I am sure you are aware, Market Watch has three distinct sections: Market Trends, Investing and Consumer Discretion. You can scroll down the page to the bottom of the home page to find the links for each of these sections. In my opinion, the Investment section is the most important of the three and should be included with all download pdf options. Why? Because, when you purchase this type of software, the company needs to provide you with the ability to download the data to your computer in a format that you can use in order to track your investment results.
Now, let’s take a look at the Market Trends section of Market Watch. First, you will need to sign up at the Market Watch membership site so that you can create your personal trading account. Once you have signed up, you will receive a password and an email address. You will log into this area from the main page of the Market Watch home page and see the following icon:
Next, there is a “Live” link above the” Marketplace” which is an envelope style symbol. Clicking on this icon will allow you to see real time quotes as they occur for the selected period of time. For instance, if you select the period of time ranging from the last week to the last six months, the current price shown for the selected time period will be displayed on the left-hand side of the screen and the price data will be shown below that figure.
Once you see the current prices, you will be able to see which trading markets are providing you with the most profitable opportunities. If you are only interested in looking at the financial instruments, you will find it easier to select the “All Time Ticker Chart” option, which displays all the price data gathered throughout the day on one handy chart. This Market Watch window will also show you the highest and lowest trading prices for each financial instrument.
The next step in learning how to operate your new Market Watch application is to learn how to use the “context menu” for selecting the different symbols you see on your Market Watch window. As soon as you click on one of the icons, the information on that symbol will be displayed in the context menu along with the current time. To learn what symbols are available to you, go to the “Glossary” area of the Market Watch window. The glossary will tell you what each symbol represents as well as what its function is. You can learn about each symbol by clicking on the appropriate word. Finally, when you have finished learning how to operate your new Market Watch application, you can use your newly learned abilities to trade on the Financial Spread Bet market with confidence!
